St.Lukes chapel is part of the former Runwell Hospital that was formerly used as a mental and psychiatric asylum, based in Wickford. The chapel, dedicated to St. Luke was placed at the principal junction at the top of the drive - to its east lay admission, research, treatment convalescence and neurosis blocks.The Hospital chapel erected in 1937, designed by Elcock and Sutcliffe.
