I can't find much history on this place.
It appears that the Curwen Sisters owned it who were Sunday school teachers and children went there for bible classes. The building also apparently housed children evacuated from the big cities during the war.

I lived here in 1976. It was owned by a very elderly spinster Miss Curwen who as far as I knew was the daughter of the man who built the house. I was her housekeeper, which gave us a rent free flat, well...
